Isn't what Y&L said in Podnebesnaya a kind of apology?

Lena: Well, she also wrote "Ya Soshla S Uma".

Yulia: You see, I used to be for Vanya before. I was like "Yea, Galoyan is an ass". But now looking back, I see that all the good people leave Vanya, all of them!

When Galoyan left before she did, Elena Kiper said some very nasty things about him. It would be good if Tatu, Kiper and Galoyan could all kiss and make up. Yulia's right - Galoyan's talent was crucial. Haven't they all yet realised that Ivan was manipulating them and used the ones still under his control to do his bidding when others began to slip out of his control? Now that the cult of Ivan has lost its last adherent (Yulia) can't they all forgive each other for things that were said and done before?

This is great news. I can't think of anyone better to take over tatu. Grin

But i'd be thrilled if anyone took over, since i really don't want them to end!!

Fingers crossed they say yes. I think this came along at the right time. Before the girls had time to move away from tatu.

I heard Lena writes a lot of poetry, I think it would be good if Lena and Lena wrote a song together. It really would be a move in the right direction if they went with Kiper's idea whatever it is.

Wow...all I can say is that I wish the girls a happy future and I hope to see them on May 22. ^_^ I think Lena and Yulia are great people and deserve the best career and life that they can get. If Kiper is their door, then they shall open it and see what is in store for them. Thumb

:yeahthat:

I wouldn't be suprised if Ivan had filled Yulia and Lena's heads with all kinds of crap about Kiper & Galaoyan and now they have finally realised that they were a crucial part of the group and Ivan just screwed it all up.

It would be great if they all put the past behind them Smile

This is from sunny poison’s report of Episode 12 of the Reality Show about Yulia’s birthday, posted by Rob on page 22 of the Official t.A.T.u. Reality Show Discussion Thread.

Yulia's dad: But is wasn't only HIM. lots of other ppl were around and THEY made this project successful... Kiper, Lyonya, Galoyan...
Yulia: But all ideas were HIS. Yeah... Kiper wrote that line... Galoyan wrote the music... but HE did everything. He chose the songs, made all those actions... This BOOM was created by him...

According to this, Yulia reckons Kiper’s contribution to the project was – writing that line.

 Good to keep in mind that Yulia also said that. To follow up, here's a Galoyan composition: http://www.galoyan.com/songs/Sergey_Galoyan_-_Trance%203.mp3 Reminiscent of something? It sounds almost exactly like the remix he did for YSSU (which can be found on the YSSU single). He also has a few remixes for Lopez and Manson on his web site - http://www.galoyan.com - (none of them seems to be official though, or at least released, because I can't find them in any of the discographies out there).

Galoyan wrote some great music, but even Kiper once said (when she was still in the Tatu camp) that Ivan changed a lot of the music. Judging from the composition above, it seems like Galoyan hasn't developed at all. Ivan probably had a lot to do with the creative process. What Lasar said further confirms that: "The girls "Lena & Julia" are very expressive and professional. Founder of Tatu "Ivan Shapovalov" and I worked together with the artists to create something a little different. Once the initial idea was set in place, we'd send mp3 files from USA to Russia and back till we had the perfect blend, then the tracks were mixed. Technology was definitley a benifit during this bi-continental process."

And this is what Yulia and Lena have said in the 3rd episode of the Reality Show, as translated by elf and posted here in the "Reasons Why Lena & Yulia left Shapovalov (Episode 3)" thread:
Quote:
Yulia: Looking back at how things were, I used to support Vanya a lot in the past. But now I see what happens to the people. Look, when Galoyan left in the very beginning, I was for Vanya. But looking at the big picture, who wrote "Ya Soshla S Uma"? Galoyan. Who wrote the music for "Pokazhi Mne Lyubov"? Galoyan. Who wrote "Nas Ne Dagonyat"? He left and there are no such songs anymore. Lena: Well, she also wrote "Ya Soshla S Uma".

Anyway, Elena Kiper is credited as co-author of the lyrics of "Ya Soshla S Uma" and "Nas Ne Dagonyat"; see the CD booklet of the "200 Po Vstrechnoi" album. I also cannot imagine why she would continue her law-suit against Neformat about authorship royalties as grim as she is actually doing now, if all she has contributed is the idea or a single line of text for "Ya Soshla S Uma".

Actually she created the idea for the song. I believe this is from episode Seven of the Reality Show:

She [Lena Kiper] also told the story of YSSU. She was in hospital and had a dream about Tutta Larsen (that girl from MTV Russia) who tried to kiss her. She felt very strange when she woke up as she couldn't understand why she would dream of kissing with a girl... she never was like that. And she said that was what the song was actually about. About agirl who saw a girl in her dream, fell in love and couldn't understand what was going on when she woke up. She took her notebook and read the original text to Mansky.

The verses we could hear in the first version of YSSU:
ne proyti po nocham
ne proyti mezhdu snov
ya ne veryu... konchay...
tut drugaya lyubov...
But the chorus was:
Ya soshla s uma (I've lost my mind)
Ya soshla s uma (I've lost my mind)
Ya sovsem odna (I'm totally alone)
Il sovsem bolna (Or totally ill)
Mne nuzhna ona (I need HER)
Ya soshla s uma (I've lost my mind)
Ya soshla s uma (I've lost my mind)
Ya teper iz sna (Now I'm someone from the dream)
Gde so mnoy ona (Where she is with me)
Gde so mnoy ona (Where she is with me)
So she called Ivan and read him those lines... and that he was like: 'yeah... this can work... good'. Telling about it she sounded like these were good memories and she didn't hate Ivan...

OK, so yesterday we had the "Anatomy" movie.

So Yulia’s part in the Shap bashing episode was filmed on 19/01/04.

Also, Lena Kiper, who helped with the idea for "Ya Soshla S Uma"

Yulia doesn’t think Kiper wrote "Ya Soshla S Uma" and this was confirmed by what she said on her birthday on 20/02/04, over a month later.

What Yulia thinks is pretty important in all this. She has probably got a little bit better idea of where the truth lies than anyone.

Why is that? Confused When it comes to the question what the creative contributions by various people to t.A.T.u.'s success has been, there is no reason for us outsiders to exclude the points of view from other people, i.e. Lena in this specific case, who have also witnessed from the inside how the project developed from its early stages. (Indeed, that means not even excluding manipulative and controversy-happy Ivan's stance on this, although we would probably never get a straight answer that allows for only one interpretation from him, as usual. Rolleyes )

Here applies something similar: When it comes to the question who from the insiders from the t.A.T.u. camp is speaking the truth about the authorship of this disputed song, there is no reason for us outsiders to assume that Yulia knows the truth about this better than any other insider, left alone anyone from the opposing parties in the Elena Kiper vs. Neformat law-suit.

But Lena said on the show that Elena Kiper wrote Ya Soshla S Uma. The idea that Elena didn't co-write the lyrics of YSSU but just one line only emerged after she broke with Ivan. You also have to remember that Yulia and Elena have personal issues (there don't seem to be between Lena and Elena). In one episode Yulia is with Lena complaining about Ivan; in the penultimate 'birthday' episode she's defending him from the same accusations by her dad. You don't have to be a Freudian to see that there would be some tensions between Yulia and her dad over Ivan.

The fact is that whatever Ivan did, the Galoyan compositions on 200km/h are far superior to Lasar's NVNB. It's the job of producers to work on the sound from the music the composer has written.

I do think that Ivan did a great deal, but I don't think he deserves as much credit as he gives himself. The fiasco of Podenesbesnaya and the awful songs that came out of it show that Ivan has lost it. In fact, the songs were so bad that I suspected that the final episode of Podnebesnaya might be the revelation that the whole thing was a joke and they were going to release a Tatu CD they'd secretly recorded earlier.

I don't know how much credit Elena deserves, but she does seem to be the one who had the idea for YSSU and the image. Yes, I know the point about her being a hypocrite for saying that she had wanted it to be about 'the borderline between friendship and love' rather than lesbianism when she was responsible for choreographing extremely raunchy stage antics. I don't think it was a moral point she was making - I think it was an artistic one. Ivan was in charge, rather than Elena. The way things came out didn't quite fit with Elena's vision, but with Ivan's. That was what she was saying.

I checked the discographies at Tatysite and t.A.T.u. L.I.F.E., http://eng.tatysite.net/music/ and http://www.tatulife.kulichki.net/index.php?module=subjects&func=viewpage&pageid=42 just to be sure; Galoyan is credited as having co-written (the big changes NVNB underwent from its first version to its second, is a good indication of how much of a difference Ivan's involvement made, even though I personally preferred the first version) the songs he's been involved in except "Ya Tvoya Ne Pervaya" , which he's credited as having written himself. Kiper (during her time in Tatu) mentioned that Galoyan wrote the music on an old 486 (which can also be read on Galoyan's own website), and that Ivan changed a lot of the music/sound. Would you care to explain what makes it a fact that YTNP is far superior to NVNB or for that matter Klouny (I love all three songs btw)? Having a look at Lasar's website, and listening to some of his compositions, it's pretty obvious that we are dealing with a very talented composer. As for Galoyan after Tatu? Well, judging from his website... I'll change my mind about him when I hear an interesting composition made by him after Tatu. :)

Did you listen to any of the songs that will be included on the Podnebesnaya compilation album? I'd say this is a very good indication that Ivan hasn't lost it. He could have taken the easy way out and created a cheesy hit factory to make some easy cash, but he didn't. Instead he chose, judging from the songs I've heard, creative, eclectic and uncompromising material, by interesting personalities - and so far I can't imagine any of the songs becoming very big hits (not Belochka either). Of particular interest I found the songs performed by Masha Makarova and Natasha Shevlyakova. Since Natasha is a singer, who stated that she's not composing music + the fact that the song is a development of "V Kosmose Skvoznyaki", makes it likely that Ivan and/or De Luxe had something to do with the music for this song. The song sounds very "fresh" to my ears.. great techno beats combined with a more ethno like composition.

Quote:

If what Kiper showed from her journal was the original lyrics she wrote (i.e. the lines quoted above), then she confirms it herself that the only line of hers that was kept in the final version is precisely YSSU (if I read the whole thing properly). Polienko is another person who said that Kiper only wrote one line in YSSU and also one line in NND. I agree with what you said however that she had the idea for YSSU (yet it was Ivan who directed the groundbreaking video), the initial idea for Tatu's image (she named it Japanese schoolgirls, and as most fans already know she was also influenced by Fucking Åmål) and the stage directions; and it seems to me, judging from what she's up to with Nichya, that she's great with organising.

By the way, I came to think of an interview in MK last year http://www.mk.ru/numbers/556/article17000.htm . In this interview Kiper mentioned towards what direction she wanted to bring Tatu's image, i.e. "hypertrophic antiglobalism", and one of her ideas was to burn a McDonald's Clown.

I think that YTNP (for people with only the English CD it's Show Me Love) is one of the best Tatu songs and Klouny is the weakest song on 200km/h. That's my personal opinion - obviously yours is different. NVNB is good, but it's not as good as YSSU or NND. I don't think you're denying that. If we regard this as a controlled experiment Galoyan+Shapovalov is superior to Lasar+Shapovalov.

I liked the composition you thought sounded too much like the YSSU remix, but his compositions for Jennifer Lopez ("I'm glad") and CLEA are very boring. I don't know what's happened to him.

I'd listened to demos on tatu.fatal.ru and I didn't think much of them. I don't think I've heard the song you're referring to. Can you provide a link?

The idea that Elena didn't co-write the lyrics of YSSU but just one line only emerged after she broke with Ivan.

If what Kiper showed from her journal was the original lyrics she wrote (i.e. the lines quoted above), then she confirms it herself that the only line of hers that was kept in the final version is precisely YSSU (if I read the whole thing properly).

What she read from the journal contained BOTH lines of the chorus: 'Ya soshla s uma, Mne nuzhna ona' (I've lost my mind, I need her).

The other lines from her first draft of the lyrics didn't seem to survive into the final version, but the themes of illness and dreams are still there in the form of poison and delirium. And the lyrics of ATTSS seem to bring back some of the original imagery. The lines 'Gde so mnoy ona, Ya teper iz sna' (Now I'm someone from the dream, Where she is with me) aren't in YSSU, but the lines 'Being with you has opened my eyes, Could I ever believe such a perfect surprise' and 'Wanna fly to a place where it's just you and me' are in ATTSS.

I wasn't trying to claim that she deserves all or most of the credit for Tatu. I think we both agree that she deserved more credit than Ivan gave her. Remember when he said that Tatu was a successful brand because the image was all the vision of one person?

News that I read at TatySite.net. The deal between Elena Kiper and t.A.T.u.'s new management appears to materialize:
Quote:
10.04.2004 (01:25) Group Tatu and Elena Kiper signed an agreement
The new management of group Tatu offered Elena Kiper to work with Tatu on their second album. So far Elena Kiper expressed that she is not ready to write songs for Tatu, at least before the release of her own album, but will be more then happy to help with idias and ideologically. Elena offered the concept for the second album: presentation style, music style, the sound of voices, emotional theme, sound of music, and hinted where the first composition should come from in order to set the overall style. All required papaers have been signed. An agreement has been reached, that Elena's offer won't be publicly announced until the author of the idea and the investors of the project will finalise the discussion of the collaboration.

It is under the heading "08<04<04".

I reckon this is good news for all of us who are eagerly awaiting a new t.A.T.u. album. If Elena Kiper turns out to be the one who can make this happen, she has my blessings for her contribution, despite all the troubles in the past.

Good news, except that another translation I read said that instead of: Elena offered the concept for the second album: presentation style, music style, the sound of voices, emotional theme, sound of music, and hinted where the first composition should come from in order to set the overall style.

It said: Elena has offered the concept for the second album: a manner of execution, music style, vocal sounds, emotional adjust, and has prompted them to take the first composition, and begin an embodiment of a new image (Source: http://tatuboi04.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=News&action=display&num=1081552333)

That worries me. It makes it sound like a whole new t.A.T.u instead of the one we know. Change is good, but not complete change...

Thanks for news Nightlbue.

Good to hear that they are making progress in making up with Elena.

Does that mean that Philipp Kirkorov, who rumoured to become their new manager, is out of the picture ?

Let's hope so.
I'm not so keen on Kirkorov being their producer after everything I've read about him. Squint

The old image just couldn't work any more after Anatomy. They needed a new image. The question is whether the new image will be interesting and controversial too or a disappointment. I hope Elena has had another of her amazing dreams...

In my opinion, the so-called "old" image has been a thing of the past for a long time. In the course of the year 2003, they matured before our eyes and with that they left most of the original tATu schoolgirl image behind. Look at them in Denmark, in Hongkong and in Tokyo - sexy, grown-up women with lots of attitude and charisma. These stage shows were a far cry from their original (highly choreographed) stage show. I doubt the future stage shows and performances will be very different from the ones we saw in late 2003, maybe there will be even less choreography, more individuality.

And I must say: The less other people meddle with that, the better. I want MORE Lena & Yulia in the future, and LESS big pompous egos behind the scenes acting as big shots, telling them what to do.

Sounds like her contribution is limited to that of a musical advisor so far (which at this point is of course a crucial part, as everyone is waiting for the second album to be released). If this collaboration proves to be successful, maybe the girls will consider more co-operations in the future. We'll see.

By the way: Is Lena Kiper's website the only source so far for these news?

ruivelle, this could also be referring back to the beginnings of Tatu. Lena Kiper has always promoted herself as one of the creators of Tatu, though I do find the description "the main hitmaker and creative leader of the t.A.T.u. project" a little bit on the exaggerated side. *shrugs*

The whole matter of Lena Kiper recently making an offer to Yulia and Lena is already discussed here: http://www.tatu.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11018

I hope they get a manager or someone soon. Why? To be realistic, these girls need something cause i can't see them being "independant" like Michael Jackson or someone who is into the "business" aspects of things.
Being a manager is a huge job.

There was a thread where this article from tatysite.net was posted, but I can?t find it.

11.03.2004 (19:52) I. Shapovalov vs L. Kiper: Another court session took place
Another court session on the matter of breaking by Neformat financial conditions of the authorship contract with Lena Kiper took place on March, 9. We?ll remind that the author claims her rights to terminate the contract on the basis of non-fulfilment by Neformat of the contract conditions: to present the reports and payment of the author's reward during the year. Besides, Alexey Shulga (L. Kieper?s attorney), officially placed another reimbursement claim ? for breaking the rules of moral rights of the author, honour and business reputation connected to the fact of accusation of group t.A.T.u., its management and authors in the drugs? propaganda, paedophilia and inappropriate behaviour, by chairman of the Moscow city council's commission of health-care and protection of public health, Lyudmila Stebenkova. By all that, L. Kiper?s attorney declared the authors being not privy to creation of such an image and underlined her resistance to such accusations. Similar claims were placed by Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina?s attorney Yakovlev & Co. The corresponding documents, witnessing the fact of breaking the rules by Neformat towards not only the authors but the singers of t.A.T.u. by putting them into the circumstances, that discredit the singer?s integrity and honour, were submitted both to the Moscow city council and the court of law.

The matter got an unexpected turn then ? the representatives of Neformat didn?t appear for the court session. Besides, it?s unclear at the moment, if such a company still exists. At the moment, the chairman of the Moscow city council's commission of health-care and protection of public health, Lyudmila Stebenkova, addressed the office of public prosecutors and the committee of drug usage control with the accusations towards Neformat and its head director I. Shapovalov in breaking the law. Y. Volkova and L. Katina, with the help of their lawers, are changing the management and terminate the contract with the former producer. The new management offers L. Kiper to work with the group?s second album. The next court session is scheduled on March, 17.

Tatu?s Producer Loses Copyright Lawsuit

Russian pop duo Tatu has lost a copyright lawsuit against Yelena Kiper, a woman who wrote the superstar duo?s greatest hits, and the Neformat company that produced will now have to pay a fine of 500,000 rubles (nearly $20,000).

?This is an unprecedented fine,? Yelena Kiper told MosNews. The company Neformat, which produced the girl duo, had bought the rights to the song five years ago. ?Since then, they have not paid me royalties,? Kiper said.

The duo ? consisting of Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina ? sparked controversy in Russia and abroad after their producer, Ivan Shapovalov, presented the girls as a lesbian couple. Tatu?s first single, All the Things She Said, was a smash hit abroad after it was translated into English and accompanied by a steamy video.

Yelena Kiper co-wrote the lyrics to All the Things She Said and They?re Not Gonna Get Us and sued Neformat for royalties after the world circulation of Tatu albums topped 7 million. Experts say the missing royalties gross hundreds of thousands of dollars. The conflict, which has stretched for a year, reached a conclusion with the court ruling in favor of Kiper.

The girls, meanwhile, have reassured fans that their group will continue to perform despite a recent falling-out with producer Shapovalov, and that fact that Yulia is expecting a baby. Tatu plans to record the album this summer.

Kiper, meanwhile, may produce the group?s upcoming album. ?I have been offered a deal to produce the album, and I have not declined the offer,? she told MosNews. The songwriter, however, hopes to be savvier this time, and tread the rough waters of Russia?s music industry with more care.

Kiper is herself a lead singer for the female vocal group Ni Chya. Instead of writing songs for other groups, however, she says she hopes to start another music group of her own.

Well, it seems to be Neformat?s problem and not the girls?. They still intend to make that second album apparently. Lena Kiper looks tired of Nichya.

What strikes me, is while we, the fans, seem pretty desperate at the moment, the girls themselves seem to remain fairly optimistic. They're like "yeah sure we're gonna keep recording". That's good innit? Thumb

Anyway this is pretty good news, I think...if it's true.
Thanks for the article!
