Rolling Stone has their review.
Quote: |
Whatever you may conclude about the possibly crass but unquestionably radical marketing of a Russian teenage duo composed of supposed lesbian lovers, only a spoilsport would deny the dark dance-pop pleasures of T.a.t.u.'s hits. Coming three years after their first CD arrived on the charts, Dangerous and Moving revisits their themes of alienation and ambiguous sexuality played out on top of very European techno rock: "All About Us" rewrites the two-against-the-world theme of the first album's "Not Gonna Get Us," while "Loves Me Not" spins the same-sex longing of "All the Things She Said" into a bisexual love triangle. Although spunky cuties Julia Volkova and Lena Katina have improved their English-pronunciation skills, the hooks they're handed this second time around are decidedly duller, and the limitations of their vocal abilities are exaggerated, not concealed, by the bluntly simplistic tunes of "Cosmos (Outer Space)" and "Sacrifice." This T.a.t.u. wasn't designed to last. |
They gave it two stars like 200 km.
Bah to Rolling Stone! The girls will show them that they are here to last. _________________ Kristya |

What a judgement..
Having a second album then saying they're designed to not last? I think they just survived the one hit wonder already. Now those "one hit wonder" people lasted already but t.A.T.u.'s making a big comeback so you can keep your review to yourself rolling stone. |

Its just tough for them to accept something thats not rap. I get really tired of rap and all of its the same, I don't see why no one in the buisness sees that..
Though Julia is famous for her screaming and I agree she has somewhat lost it, it does not deserve that review and this album is by far above 2 stars. _________________

it's funny to the that american magazines rate the album not that good as for example english reviews
The album is far above 2 stars, but I'm just a fan and like most of the tatu things. _________________ I'm back but just because i'm still addicted of that fantastic writing style and stories which are always fascinated myself here on tatu.us.

Rolling Stone USED to be a rock mag. Now it covers as much pop as it does rock. UNfortunately. I've always sung my dislike for their writers as well as reviewers. Now, I'm looking forward to Spin's review (if they even bother), since I dislike that mag as well. _________________ If nothing ever moves, put that needle to the groove. And sing. |

The BBC actually gave them 5/10 which is pretty low (as expected from the Beeb) but 2 is way off imo, I can understand them not likeing 200k that much because it really is a short album that felt a little rushed but D&M is much better then 2 imo and is a big improvment over 200k.
Good thing I rarley buy albums based on magazine reviews _________________ F@*k authority I do what ever I want. |

I'd really like NME and Magnet to do interviews, also gay-friendly mags like Bust, Bitch, maybe Details. Not enough mags reviews popular music enough, just stick to the genres their magazines cater to. Sucks. _________________ If nothing ever moves, put that needle to the groove. And sing. |

I've always been curious to know just what genres of music these reviewers preffer. I'd suspect most of those knobs preffer generic (C)Rap and Grunge like *CHOKE* music. I think that might possibly explain their anti tATu prejudices. _________________

Ridiculous.
Rollingstone isn't cut out for reviewing an artist like t.A.T.u, honestly. They're too busy trying to look "hip" and cool. I'd pick Dangerous and Moving over a lot of the indie rock crap they are hailing currently.
Boo on them.

Well i've listened to far to many of those so called "Indie Rock" and "Grunge" bands that zines like Rolling Stone like to fawn over and as far as i'm concerned the vocals from those bands sound as though they were done when the vocalist was having a constipated bowel movement!
Why those zines do that may go down as one of the great mysteries of the universe. _________________

i think these reviews are somewhat bias. i mean these people probably have heard the singles, listened to the album once through, and seen a video or two. we, on the other hand, know A LOT about the girls themselves, their personalities and all that. i guess we have a sort of love for them. so i guess if u look at JUST their music... maybe then you could criticize it some... maybe their voices arent "perfect" or "legendary", but its the actual girls that make the music so good. tatu is not just the 11 songs on the album, but its lena and yulia. two very talented and unique women.
however, i still think the music in itself is GREAT!

Maybe.
But there are many other women artists who perform live, write their own music, write their own lyrics, and have been doing so for many years and many albums.
Which is why tatu wont get 4 stars in a rolling stone magazine unless they prove they can turn out new and fresh material (even if it isn't kate bush or Bjork quality) for a couple more albums. _________________
