LOL I think it's cool she doesn't put up with stuff like that. Before the guy started to curse (or at least say something that needed to be beeped), she was actually more playful or impish than belligerent. That changed only when he said something beep-worthy (= insulting?).
Judging from what Lena said afterwards, he must have treated them in a patronizing, unfriendly manner (the things he says about them in that short interview are quite patronizing as well), so Yulia's fierce reaction may be understandable.
The dynamics between Yulia and Lena are very interesting. Judging from the look on her face, Lena is definitely feeling some sort of latent anger, but it's Yulia who takes control and says, Enough! Let's go. Lena joins her very quickly. I'd say she is more than okay with Yulia being the decisive and uncompromising one.

Great Job, CoolAsFCUK. I salute you! I hope you don't mind - I made a literal line-by-line translation of that piece :)
Elf's Note: In Russia there are two ways of saying "you": a formal one (which is also used to refer to several people) and an informal one. The formal one is usually used when adressing someone older than you, a stranger, or someone you highly respect. An informal you is used between friends and people you know. Using formal after a person asked to talk informal is a no-no. So is using informal when the person you are talking to uses formal
Elf's Note 2: The photographer's voice was extremely annoying and unclear, as if he was always speeking through his teeth, Doesn't really make a good impression
______________________________________________
Yulia: Hi
Lena: Hello
Yulia: It's cool... so many professionals!
[ Andrey Sel'vestrov (A.S.), a marketing person of CTC channel ]
A.S.: We brought them here, we will take pictures of them.. I think, it's not necessary to dress them up... We will film them separately and then "fix them up"...
Yulia: Uhm.. uhm. uhm.. "pin them up" :)
[ Enter the photographer a.k.a. Lord Denethor son of Ecthelion, the last Stewart of Gondor ]
A.S.: So it's going to be a photo session...uhmm.. We will take pictures of you in front of a background...of backgrounds. Then you will be cut out of these backgrounds...
[ In front of the photographer ]
Guy in gray sweater: Did you know that this man is the best in this country? He is the best artist, did you know that? [His name is] Vladimir Kovalyuk.
Lena: We have worked before, yes I remember… We had lots of arguments (a quarrel)…
Photographer: Not with me. You had arguments between yourselves.
Guy in gray sweater (to photographer): Such are the caprices of celebrities… you know...
[ Lena in front of the mirror with the photographer beside her]
Lena:(to somebody else): It won’t be seen from behind, right?
Off screen: Yeah… sure.
Photographer: Are [formal you] going to stay in this sweater?
Lena: No.
Photographer: Maybe it’s time for [formal you] to put something on?
Lena: (begging) Could you please address me with [informal you]? I’m not an old lady.
Photographer: Well… I’m much older than [formal you].
Lena: It’s doesn’t really make any difference… My name is Lena, you can address me with [informal you]
[Yulia and Lena selecting what to wear ]
Yulia: Do you have something of plain white color, without any pictures?
Lena: I’m dressed in plain white.
Off screen: Yes? good, wonderful…
Lena: I will be in this [showing] it’s also white, only with a collar.
Off screen: Yes… it’s perfect, perfect!
Lena: And the pants… everything will be fine.
[cut]
Lena: No, we want something very simple, the simpler the better.
Girl next to her: Yes…
Guy: It’s a very simple thing.
Lena: You know it’s like: “the worse, the better”.
[ Cut, some talk about taking pictures separately ]
[Make up session]
Lena:: Oy, no, don’t scrape it off …
Make up artist: I won’t touch the painful thing.
Lena: Ouch, I asked you not to scrape it off.
[Yulia walking around with her hand next to her forehead]
Yulia: (laughing) Look..*laughing*…he is running around in a coat… he is thinking a thought...
Others: (laugh with her) A thinker! ...
[Lena dressing]
Lena: If that was ok, then this is like (showing)… here we go again… [cut] … and these yellow stripes…
[Photographer next to Lena]
Photographer: It has been open. Shall we see?
Yulia: What shall we see?
Photographer: No, I’m not talking to [informal you].
Yulia: I don’t know why it’s all white… Do you have any jeans?
Off screen: No.
Yulia: Well if it’s supposed to be all white then so be it…. But you know, jeans or something would be simpler.
Photographer: Should it be like that? (touching Yulia’s pants)
Yulia: Well, they are supposed to be higher, actually.
[Next scene with Photographer, Yulia and Lena]
Photographer: Are you dressed up? Then come on in,
Lena: Wait a second for Yulia to dress up.
Yulia: I don’t think Yulia is going to dress up.
Photographer: Well, then let’s do it without Yulia, come on.
Lena: What do you mean without Yulia?
Photographer: Well, we’ll do it one at a time.
Yulia: Are you sure I’m going to take part in this photoshoot? What makes you so sure? [pause] Yes, I’m a difficult person. I’ve been told that before.
Photographer: You think, I’m a boy to [informal] you?
Yulia: And [formal you] think I’m a girl to you?
Photographer: Why are you grumbling… So many people are [waiting for you]. Look!
Yulia: Am I a girl to [formal you]? To [informal you]! If you are speaking informally then so will I.
Photographer: Well...
Yulia: Well what?
Photographer: Well… Are we canceling the photo shoot, or what?
Yulia: It’s up to you. You are the photographer here. (smiling)
Photographer: What, you find it funny?
Yulia: Yes, it’s really funny to me.
Photographer: To waste a day for two *beep* (I think he said c**ksuckers - elf)
Yulia: For one big *beep**beep* (cock sucker)
Yulia: Let’s go, people, let’s go, let’s go. I’ve *beep* on one *beep* too much. Why the *beep*, do wee need it?. Change your clothing and let’s go.
[cut]
Yulia: A star, fuck, celebrity…
Somebody: I think…
Yulia: That’s it, don’t tell me anything, don’t try to calm me down. Let him learn how to behave first, to be a person – not a piece of shit. As a celebrity, that he pretends to be, he doesn’t impress us. There are people far better than him, that are good people, not like him – a toilet!
[cut to Photographer]
Photographer: I think it’s when the crown presses upon the ears… Well they are clowns, they are children taken from the street, transformed in some way. It think that not many people can handle such heights, not to mention children.
[cut to Lena]
Lena: No, it’s just that the man considers himself a star, a celebrity. If he wants to speak that way, let him speak that way to someone else. We…uhmm
Yulia We are t.A.T.u., We are t.A.T.u.!
Lena: We simply… I, for example, never let anybody talk to me like that. Not even my mom or my dad can say that to me, although they have far more rights than someone who barely knows me.

The guy is not the sharpest tool in the box, they played with him and he never saw it coming. Like the form of address thing?
At the beginning he addresses Lena formally. That annoys Lena and she tells him "I'm not an old lady, address me informally".
The guy starts addressing Lena informally like she told him and he assumes that he can do the same with Yulia. Big mistake!
Yulia is annoyed as well and tells him basically the *opposite* of what Lena said "I'm a girl to you? You address me informally?"
Ha ha ha The guy had no way out of this, if he had addressed Yulia formally, she would have said "I'm an old lady to you?" :D
That being said, he got what he wanted in the end, they did do the shoot (we have the pics), with the clothes he wanted, and the poses he wanted. |

haku, I don't think Lena and Yulia had some kind of collaborate plan to trick him on "you's". He was just being very bad mannered by any standards.
At the beginning, Lena asked him to use the informal "you" not because she was annoyed. It's a very common gesture of making the relationship less formal. It's is also considered very polite in Russian society. Even after she asked him he continued using the formal "you" and even started making up some excuses. That's a very rude behavior on his part, as if he tries to reject her offer.
When he talks to Yulia with an informal "you", despite the fact that they barely know each other and the fact that Yulia uses formal "you" to him, it's as if he tries to show his superiority, as if he is talking to a kid. That's again a very very rude behavior. As I have said before, if the other person talks formally to you, it's best to talk formally back unless you want to make fun of that person. If he had offered her to talk informally (as Lena did) it would be a different story.
I know it's confusing with al the formal/informal you's but trust me, the man was clearly wrong in both cases. |

I HIGHLY doubt he was the one making the shoot. Having said what he said, he conciously broke every relationship with the girls. It's the point of no return. There is no way, Yulia would ever let him take pictures of her, nor would Lena. As Yulia said, there are far better photographers out there that don't act like toilets |

First of all: Thanks a lot for the transcript of this clip, elf
After reading this more detailed transcript, I can really understand Yulias reaction to this star-photographer. He was more diva-like than all the other people in this room. In the beginning it was a little bit joking from Yulia's side, and maybe it would have been better if he had shown a bit more humour in this kind of situation. *shrugs*.
But after "this" dirty word, there was really no point of return, and I'm glad that Yulia reacted the way she did - she isn't a little girl anymore, she is a young woman who you have to treat with more respect than this guy did.
The same goes for Lena, of course.

Interesting. Tatu are supposed to be 19 years old or whatever but in real they're two little babies. ( formal "you" and informal "you", LOL )
Very professional.
They're a nightmare to work with, yet more stars are like little babies so Tatu are no different than most stars. They're just as superficial capricious and fake as the ones they suppose to snub |

And what is the big deal about that? It's not like he was molesting her, photographers rearrange clothes on models all the time during a photoshoot.
But i agree that the photographer was an idiot. He was the first to lose his temper, it was a nerve battle and he lost it.
From the beginning Yulia and Lena (especially Yulia) were not in the mood for a shoot that day, it took them several hours to simply put a pair of pants on. They took the situation as far as they could to see if the photographer would snap and he did. Game over for him, he gave them the excuse to get out of there.
I'm saying he's an idiot because he should have played the game like they did. Like for example take an hour to reload a camera once the shoot had started.
elf wrote: |

Yeah, he was bad mannered, but delaying the shoot for hours for no good reason like Y&L did was not exactly very polite either.
Again i agree that he was an idiot because he lost his temper first and that's always a mistake.
And yeah, he should have used informal with Lena when she asked him BUT keep using formal with Yulia.
Yulia is no way near as friendly as Lena, he should have known that.

Yeah, he was "rearranging"... Whatever pleases you...
It doesn't take much common sense to know that it's better not to "touch" in whatever manner when there's a negative tension between 2 persons as there was. And judging from the way he called Yulia and Lena also (just in case you forget that ) later we can guess what kind of attitide this guy had. _________________

ok first of all u obviosly are not russian!! for russian ppl formal you and informal you is very important part in professional or everyday talk. My mother say to me that I have to call my grandmother formal, bacause like that you show respect!! In work and school, university ,shops or what ever you use FORMAL way....Thats kinda of not said rule!!! Talking informal with somebody u dont know says about ur bad behavior!!!
Second seems like he is asked from Tatu to make or their staff to make the photoshot..that means THEY pay him....THAT means HE works for them...No matter how old are they, who are they or what they do HE has to respect them ( about the paying part I'm not sure,so just my thoughts)...
Conlusion: He sux...He is jealouse (have no idea how to spell it:) )...HE doesnt respect HIMself losing money this stupid way!!! If he is proffesiona he would know that the stars are spoiled _________________
