There was a TV interview with them, and a transcript was posted on the Russian forum of Tatysite. Since it's not accessible right now, I cannot give you the link, but here's a quote from it (translated by elf):
Quote: |
It is also not very clear how t.A.T.u. girls are going to share the presidential seat but this minor detail does not seem to bother them.
Yulia: We are always together. The two of us are as one. We are a duo after all, not just in the t.A.T.u. sense, we are together in any case.
Lena: Minus times minus equals plus, you know...
Kuhalin: Well a president should be either he or she...
Yulia: And we will be as one. |
There's your answer. :)

I think that they ould be able to effectively run the office. However, I don't think they can get elected since they don't meet the requirements. _________________ "Formerly, when religion was strong and science weak, men mistook magic for medicine;

Sorry but I dont think that two Girls under the age of 20 with no experience in politics that I know of could run a country if I was Russian I know I wouldn't vote for them.
Its just rediculous imo. _________________ F@*k authority I do what ever I want. |

I guess that's why you are not russian Many Russians are quite tired of money-hungry and power-hungry politicians and would rather vote for t.A.T.u. given a chance |

Whilst Tatu would probebly not do very well, they could not be worse then most of the earlier Russian rulers. Yeltsin was a drunkard,Stalin was utterly evil,most of the others have not been much better. I'd vote for them. At least we know they are not power-hungry and evil. |

That was not my oppinion, that was an observation I made of people discussing the possibility of t.A.T.u. becoming presidents on Russian political website.

Thats what I use.
I hate politicians. I don't know anything about Putin, so I won't judge him... but in general politicians are politicians for all the wrong reasons.
We are all humans, it doesn't take anyone special to be a president. If they can sign their name, and speak in public, thats pretty much all they need to do. They seem to be mentally confident. They have support people that give them all the information, and tell them the possible side-effects and whatnot of every little decision. There are safeguards in every successful government that keeps the most poewrful person/people from making stupid decisions.
The only thing that stands between a politician and the normal person is the interest. It doesn't take a genius top run a country, all though it doesn't hurt (... most of the time). _________________ "Formerly, when religion was strong and science weak, men mistook magic for medicine;

27.12.2003 (15:54) Tatu were not allowed a chance to become presidents.
Today in the Moscow Palace of Youth was supposed to be a collection of signatures in support of the registration of group Tatu to become one of the candidates to the position of the president of the Russian Federation. But, as producer of the group Ivan Shapovalov told “Echo of Moscow”, the action was cancelled. The organizers did not get permission from Moscow government to carry out the action. Besides that, as reported by lawyers, according to the rules, the girls cannot be candidates for presidency, as they have not yet reached the legal age to become one.

You have to be 35 to run for President in Russia. They are not, so they couldn't run, end of PR stunt. |
